Ladies and Gentlemen, boys, and girls, welcome to Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas‘ Medical School, or as it is affectionately known, ‘GKT’!  

 

Many congratulations on gaining admission- after years of building up a fine collection of A Levels, obscure instrumental abilities, and D of E awards, it has all finally paid off.  Now the fun can begin!

The Medical Society (MedSoc) is designed to provide you with the framework to enjoy your time at GKT to the full.  Key to being a successful medical student (and future doctor) is the ‘work hard, play harder’ work ethic, or according to the alternative Guy’s Motto: “Go hard or go home”.  There are abundant opportunities for life beyond your degree at GKT and King’s.  

 

I look forward to meeting you and wish you luck for what I hope will be the most debaucherous and memorable year of your lives.  Welcome to the finest hospitals in the world!
